Adelaide City FC is a historic football (soccer) club in Adelaide, South Australia. A club steeped in history dating back to 1946 when Mario Bailetti came to Australia from Italy to start his own team out the back of his sport store. After starting the club, Adelaide City FC would endure a major run of success where they have been crowned national champion three times of the now defunct NSL (National Soccer League - then Australia’s premier division). Only two clubs (South Melbourne and Marconi) have spent more time (27 seasons) in the top tier of Australian soccer since national competition began. During its national league stint, City also won the NSL Cup three times – more than any other club – achieving a league/cup double in 1992. In 1987, it became the first Australian club in history to win a continental title when it claimed the Oceania Club Championship. The brief was to create a logo that preserved the club’s proud history.
